(ABOVE) Press advertisement for the
release of the title theme 'BLUESMOKE' by Full Cry. This was the second
recording of the theme song. Originally recorded for 'OPERATION BLUESMOKE'
1996, the song was not a commercial success until it was re-recorded in 1998
for 'BLUESMOKE 2000'. After the success of 'BLUESMOKE - NAMES ARE FOR
TOMBSTONES' 1997 the new film's budget was bigger than any of the previous
Bluesmokes, this
gave Full Cry the opportunity to rework the song and re-record it.
Slowing the song down slightly, and adding more layers gave the song a more
epic feel. The result was extremely different to the original recording which
was raw and punky, the song was now more polished and epic. Full Cry ended up
with their first chart success, which also helped them push the new film out
of the cult market it was trapped in. The later recording of 'BLUESMOKE' was included on the
compilation album 'THIS IS BLUESMOKE', and is available
here to download.
