(ABOVE) LOST SCENE - SHAVING SCENE - FROM 'BLUESMOKE - NAMES ARE FOR TOMBSTONES' 1997

"This was a very improvised scene with Pik's character - Buzz Austin, having a shave before going off to rescue his boss Sir Singen Smythe" explains director Ian Burnett. "We wanted to make it seem like he was getting clean and sober before going into battle, but then just to remind you of his constant alcohol abuse, have him pick the Gin bottle up from the sink, and splash it onto his face as if it were aftershave". The scene was originally to follow on from where Jason and Marcos find their ex colleague - Pik living and looking like a tramp on a park bench. "It wasn't used in the end because it slowed the film down too much, but we still managed to get a gag in about the character's constant drinking later on in the film. The Gin bottle and mineral water joke between Pik and Marcos later in the film was actually funnier anyway, and we then reversed the joke in BLUESMOKE 2000". "I was very annoyed to find the scene had been cut, I actually threatened not to be in the next film" explains Pik, "In preparation for the scene I'd stayed up drinking for two and a half days solid, and went without shaving for almost a week"
