(ABOVE) LOST ELVIS SCENES - FROM 'BLUESMOKE - NAMES ARE FOR TOMBSTONES' 1997

"During the final fight scene of BLUESMOKE - NAMES ARE FOR TOMBSTONES, Elvis (Steve Porter) picks up a petrol bomb, lights it and throws it. The original idea was to have it miss Bluesmoke and hit another of Henderson's men and have him go up in flames" Director Ian Burnett explains. "Time restrictions and budget meant we never got to shoot the guy going up in flames" says Producer Marcos Dinsdale. "The fight scene was a huge scene to film, we had blood bags bursting everywhere, a car reversing over an innocent passer by, we had the dummy falling out a third floor window, another dummy we were trying to decapitate as well as all the hand to hand fight stuff". Director Ian Burnett agrees "It would have took too long to set a guy on fire, sometimes minor scenes like this have to be sacrificed to get the more important scenes done. It's a shame because I wanted this scene to show the stupidity of Elvis' character"

The last time we see Elvis he is laid on the floor with blood running from his head, how did he get in that state?, is he dead?. "I get letters about this every week" says Director Ian Burnett. "In the end fight scene we see Marcos grab hold of Elvis, but it then cuts to someone else, next time we see Elvis, he looks dead. We shot a scene with Marcos fighting Elvis, Marcos grabs Elvis by the head and repeatedly smashes his head against the concrete wall. We rigged up a syringe which shot blood onto the wall every time his head hit the wall. The scene was unusable in the end, it just looked crap, it wouldn't have fooled anybody. I didn't want to lower the standard of the film by using a dodgy looking scene like this, so I thought it would  be better to leave a bit of mystery about it"
